Have you heard of Monemvasia, Greece? We hadn’t either—until May 2024, when we stumbled upon this hidden gem during our 25-day road trip through Greece. After exploring popular spots like Athens, Santorini, and Delphi, we wanted something off the beaten path in the Peloponnese. While researching beach destinations, we discovered that Greece is packed with famous spots, but we were craving a unique experience away from the usual tourist crowds. Thanks to recommendations from friendly locals we met in Nafplio, we set our sights on Monemvasia, a stunning medieval fortress town perched on a small island.
