Another one of our favorite day trips from Dublin, Ireland was the tour to Cork, Cobh, and Blarney Castle. We booked our tickets with PaddyWagon Tours just two days before at their ticket center in Dublin, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip — especially thanks to the fun and engaging driver-guide who made the whole journey even more memorable.
🌊 First Stop: Cobh – Titanic’s Last Port
Our first stop was the colorful seaside town of Cobh, famously known as the last port of call for the Titanic in 1912.
- Even though Cobh has a dedicated museum — the Titanic Experience Cobh — we chose to visit the Cobh Heritage Centre, and we really enjoyed it. The museum is filled with fascinating artifacts, survivor stories, and exhibits about Irish emigration, which gave us a deeper understanding of the local history.
- ✨ Traveler’s Tip: In Cobh, you can choose between the Titanic Experience and the Heritage Centre depending on your interests. Both are worth visiting, but check in advance whether your day tour includes admission fees, as not all of them do.

🏙️ Second Stop: Cork City
Our second stop was Cork, Ireland’s second-largest city. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain during our visit, so we only had time for a quick walk through a few shops and a short, but memorable, visit to St Fin Barre’s Cathedral. My niece Juliana insisted we shouldn’t miss it, and even though it was just a quick “running visit,” we were glad we did — the architecture and stained glass windows were stunning, even in the rain.
Because this was just a day trip from Dublin, we couldn’t explore Cork in depth, but it’s definitely a city we’d love to come back to and spend a few days. With its famous English Market, cozy pubs, vibrant student vibe, and rich culture, Cork deserves more time than just a quick stop. Maybe next time!
🪨 Third Stop: Blarney Castle & Gardens
Our final and most exciting stop was Blarney Castle, a 15th-century fortress surrounded by lush gardens and parkland. Despite the rain, we loved exploring the castle and of course, climbing to the top to kiss the Blarney Stone.
📖 Fun Fact: According to Irish legend, kissing the Blarney Stone grants you the “gift of the gab” — eloquence and persuasive charm. Of course, we couldn’t resist giving it a try, and it was such a fun experience! We even got a souvenir certificate with our photo (an optional extra, but we couldn’t say no). Definitely a memory worth keeping!
Whether you believe in the myth or not, climbing to the top of Blarney Castle is an adventure in itself, and the views from up there are absolutely breathtaking.

Known as Ireland’s highest pub, it’s already cozy and authentic, but since we visited during Halloween, the entire place was fully decorated with spooky fun touches. The atmosphere was lively, the food hearty, and honestly, we laughed and enjoyed ourselves so much.
