Visiting Bogotá for the first time, we already knew the city was famous for its coffee. So, before arriving, we made a list of coffee shops we wanted to try — and, of course, we discovered a few more along the way.
Very quickly, we realized something interesting. Even though Bogotá is not a coffee-growing region, it brings together beans from all over Colombia. Because of this, you can explore different flavors and styles without ever leaving the city.
During our visits, we also noticed that many cafés focus on:

☕ Our Favorite Coffee Shops in Bogotá
We explored several cafés, mainly in Usaquén and La Candelaria, but also in more local, non-touristic areas. These were the ones that stood out the most for us.
Just a quick note — we’re sharing the places we personally enjoyed the most, but there are many other coffee shops waiting to be discovered in Bogotá.
1. Juan Valdez Café — A Classic First Stop
If you’re visiting Colombia for the first time, Juan Valdez is a great place to start.
It’s one of the most recognized coffee brands in the country, and it gives you a solid introduction to Colombian coffee in a very accessible way.

💡 We especially liked the Usaquén location, which fits perfectly into a weekend walk around the flea market.
Quick Note: One fun thing we heard from locals — Juan Valdez isn’t always seen as the best coffee in Colombia.
It’s more like a well-known chain, similar to Tim Hortons for Canadians or Starbucks for Americans — easy to find and reliable, but not necessarily the top choice for specialty coffee.
2. Colo Coffee — Modern and Creative
Colo Coffee feels modern and energetic, and it was the perfect stop after a long walk around the Usaquén Market. That said, you can also find other Colo locations across Bogotá.
It’s the kind of place where you immediately notice the attention to detail — both in the design and in the coffee itself.

3. Valiente Café — Calm and Local
We found Valiente Café after visiting La Perseverancia Market, and it immediately felt quieter and more local compared to other spots.
It turned out to be a great place to slow down — and even get a bit of work done — especially after exploring the nearby area.

If you enjoy discovering places that feel less touristy, this is a great option.
⭐ 4. Café Matuca — A Hidden Gem We Didn’t Expect
Café Matuca was one of those places we almost missed — and it ended up being one of our favorites.
Located just steps from the Gold Museum, it’s easy to walk by without noticing. However, once inside, the experience feels completely different.

- Strong focus on specialty coffee
- A more personal and welcoming experience
- Cool and unique décor
- Delicious pastries to pair with the coffee
We visited Matuca on our own, without booking a guided experience — and still had an amazing time.

We found Robusta Coffee at the end of our first day exploring Bogotá’s historic center. It’s a small and cozy coffee shop — very clean and perfect for sitting down, enjoying a pastry, and relaxing after a long day of walking.

Everything feels intentional, from the presentation to the atmosphere.
